About Renewable Energy Systems

The Renewable Energy Systems (RES) group is one of the world's leading wind farm developers. In a world where energy security, sensible resource management and pollution-free power are increasingly high priorities, wind is now recognised as a key energy technology of the future, and new markets are continually emerging. RES is working across the globe to develop, construct and operate wind farms that contribute to our goal of a sustainable future.

RES has been at the forefront of the growing wind industry from the outset more than two decades ago. Formed in 1982 and part of the UK's Sir Robert McAlpine group of engineering and construction companies, RES has completed 1,500MW of wind power capacity around the world.

Since 1992, RES has completed or has under construction 19 wind farms totalling over 180MW of capacity in the UK. Our head office in Kings Langley, Hertfordshire is complemented by regional offices in Scotland, Wales, South-West England and Northern Ireland. At the end of 2003, RES had developed or constructed over 20% of the UK's installed wind capacity.

Queens Award 2005

RES possesses all the capabilities required to develop, construct and operate a successful wind farm, from choosing sites and designing the project (for maximum power performance and minimum local impact), through the planning and consenting stage (including environmental assessment and financing), right up to the construction and operation of a generating wind farm. We ensure projects are designed to generate power at the most competitive prices.

RES is active in a number of international markets with offices in France, Scandinavia, Australia and across North America, and joint ventures have been formed or are under negotiation in a number of countries in Europe, the Americas, Asia and the Caribbean.
