ECO-FRIENDLY HQ GETS READY TO WELCOME | |
Renewable Energy Systems (RES) today announced the opening of a new educational facility at Beaufort Court, the wind farm company’s zero-emissions HQ at the old Ovaltine Egg Farm in Kings Langley. Timed to coincide with the start of the new school year, the Visitor Centre will offer tours and educational events for schools, community groups and professionals interested in all aspects of sustainable design and renewable energy generation. The main attraction is likely to be the large wind turbine, well-known to locals and regular motorists on the M25. The announcement was made as Dr Ian Mays, Managing Director of RES, presented prizes to four local schoolchildren who were winners of competitions held at the company’s Open Day in the Summer. Dr Mays said;
The local children receiving prizes today are Abigail and Christian James, Alexander Heilling and Scott Johnston. They were among more than 3,000 visitors to Beaufort Court on the Public Open Day held in June. Visitors to Beaufort Court will be able to follow the ‘Energy Trail’ to see the range of renewable energy technologies installed at the site, including a wind turbine, solar panels and energy crops. They provide all of the office’s heat and electricity over the course of the year, and even produce surplus power for sale to the local grid. There will also be talks, displays and fun activities covering the history of the site from Egg Farm to ground-breaking zero-emissions building, environmentally-friendly design and broader topics on energy and the environment. Visits to Beaufort Court are by appointment and priority will be given initially to local schools and community groups.
