Tours of Beaufort Court

We welcome tours from schools, community groups, professional bodies, local authorities, non-governmental organisations, companies and individuals who are interested in how we have incorporated renewable energy technologies into Beaufort Court.

Dates & Times


Adult Groups:

In the summer months (April-October) we run evening sessions, with up to 30 bookable places, which take place out of office hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Tours begin at 5pm, 6pm or 7pm and last approximately 2 hours. Attendance for these events will be by prior booking only on a first come first served basis.  Availability for summer 2008 can be found here.  Please use our online booking form to book places for our evening sessions.

School visits:

These take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays and are open to all age groups. Please use our online booking form to make a booking and arrange a suitable programme (see below for details).

Cost

Whilst RES makes no charge for arranging these visits, we are always very grateful for donations to our current charity. The 4 charities selected by RES employees for support through 2008 are Cancer Research, Diabetes Research UK, Yorkhill Children’s Hospital in Glasgow and Down's Syndrome Association. A charity box will be available in the Auditorium during your visit, we suggest a donation of £2 per person.

Numbers

Adult groups:

For our evening sessions we can accommodate up to 30 people. Please be aware we do not offer exclusive group bookings for groups containing less than 30 people.  If you are making a booking as a group you will need to book a specified number of places on one of our evening session and we reserve the right to make up the numbers with other visitors.

School groups:

We can accommodate school groups of 30 children plus accompanying adults (1:4 for children under 11; 1: 7 for children 11-18).

Programmes

Adult tours:

Background to Beaufort Court and its renovation; video; tour of site including solar panels, wind turbine, biomass heating system and borehole cooling and solar architecture. Accompanied children over the age of 8 are welcome to join adult tours by arrangement.

Disabled Facilities

Our Energy Trail is accessible by wheelchair and disabled access toilet facilities are available.

Transport

We encourage our visitors to arrive by a sustainable means of transport. We are 5 minutes walk from Kings Langley train station on the London Euston–Milton Keynes–Birmingham mainline. Local bus 322 between Hemel Hempstead and Watford stops at the bottom of Egg Farm Lane every 30 mins. By car, we are close to Junction 20 of the M25, and Junction 9 of the M1.
