Visit Beaufort Court Turbine

Saturday 14 June 2008

In conjunction with the British Wind Energy Association (BWEA) and the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA), RES is taking part in Wind Weekend.

On Saturday 14 June RES is offering tours of Beaufort Court.  Visitors will get the chance to visit a world first in eco-friendly office design and see renewable energy generation in action, including the famous M25 wind turbine. They will also be able to see how the much-loved historical 1930s buildings have been transformed into a pioneering example of sustainable design.

Places are limited, and attendance for this event will be by prior booking only on a first come first served basis.

Attractions on 14 June will include:

  • Guided tours along the 'Energy Trail' to learn about clean, green energy.
  • Visit the wind turbine and find out how it works.
  • Discover the history of the Egg Farm and the Ovaltine connection.
  • Wind Turbine building workshops for children aged 12-18.
  • Windy arts and crafts for children aged 6-11.
  • Wally Woppapotamus Workshops with children's author Helen Bonney (author of The Woppapotamus from Titan) for children aged 5-10.
  • Live music and refreshments.
  • Stalls from local environmental organisations.

See our Tours & Workshops page for more information.  Visitors will be able to book on to an hourly guided tour of Beaufort Court. Please use our online booking form.

Beaufort Court and the ‘Energy Trail’ tour route are fully accessible for wheelchairs and those who prefer not to use steps. Disabled access toilet facilities are available.

Admission is free – we will be raising money for Diabetes Research through voluntary donations on the day.

We look forward to seeing you at Beaufort Court this summer!
